Lucerne Cantonal Hospitals: Providing information for patients and authorities under one roof

The central Switzerland gets a portal to 3 acute care hospitals and a height clinic: The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital provides life-saving and interesting facts and delights especially young parents.

Client: Lucerne Cantonal Hospital
The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS) is the main hospital of central Switzerland. The modern acute care hospitals in Lucerne, Sursee and Wolhusen ensure medical care round the clock for all population groups. The hospital in Montana is a center for respiratory diseases and rehabilitation.

Task: to cover very different needs
The 3 hospitals are positioning themselves differently and unite on an operational level and on the web.

One single website shall provide useful information and features for patients, visitors, partners and the public. All must be presented under a new logo and a new corporate screen design.

The LUKS' input requirement: "Comprehensive, hospital-oriented information, that indicate a great potential for synergies between the different hospitals' communication."

Solution: Consulting and a portal with TYPO3
The hospitals project team developed basic requirements, which are analyzed and complimented by getunik's consultant in workshops etc. The outcome:

• A winning web strategy
• detailed requirements and information architecture
• decision to use TYPO3 as WCMS.

Among the useful features are a search tool for medical specialists and a baby-gallery (parents can send a "digital birth announcement" of their baby as an e-card).

As soon as all requirements are clearly defined, the design process begins, and the WCMS is programmed.
